How to Get Your COI

3 min read

Need a Certificate of Insurance? Here are the three fastest ways to get it. Pick one and you're done.

1. Email

coi@iagency.biz

Fastest for most requests. Your email opens a tracked request the moment it lands.

Send us four things:

  • Your company name

  • Who the certificate goes to (exact name + address)

  • Any wording the holder requires

  • Where to send it

2. Portal

Enrolled clients pull their own certificate any time, day or night. Adding or changing a certificate holder in the portal is free.

Not enrolled yet? Text 469-501-1071 and ask for your portal invite. We send your personal link.

3. Call or text

469-501-1071

Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern. After hours, leave a message and a licensed agent follows up next business day.

What it costs

Standard certificate: free. Delivered within 4 hours during business hours.

Certificate holder change: free through your self-service portal.

Need it faster? An optional Express Service Fee is available in most states for prioritized, same-day turnaround. Your exact cost is shown and signed off before any charge. See your state at iagency.biz/fees.

Policy change involved? If your certificate needs a coverage change, that is billed as a standard service fee for the policy work — never a separate charge for the certificate itself. See your state at iagency.biz/fees.

Why there's a fee — and what you're paying for

A certificate is not just a document we print. Every time we issue one, a licensed agent verifies your policy is accurate and current. We are not willing to put our name on a certificate we have not checked. Here is what actually happens behind each request.

Adding or changing a certificate holder — free

If your policy is already set up the way you need it, adding a certificate holder is simple. You can do it yourself in the self-service portal at no charge. Plan ahead and this is all you ever need.

Rush turnaround — Express Service Fee

A rush is any certificate you need in under 4 hours. Before we issue it, a licensed agent has to pull your current policy and verify your coverages, your drivers, and your equipment, and confirm nothing has changed since your last request. We would love for this to take five minutes, and often it nearly does. But a licensed agent must review and sign off before it goes out. The Express Service Fee is what moves your request to the top of the pile and pushes it through that review fast. We are glad to do it — the fee reflects the priority handling and the sign-off. Availability and amount depend on your state; you always see and approve it first.

When a policy change is needed — standard service fee

This is the biggest one. If the certificate needs something your policy does not currently cover, we cannot just issue it. First the policy change has to be requested. A licensed agent files the change and gets a quote. If the price changes, you approve the quote. Only then can we start the certificate, which has its own verification of everything that changed. That work is billed as a standard service fee for the policy change — and we never add a second charge for the certificate on top of it.

The bottom line

The best move is always to plan ahead. Keep your policy set up the way you need it, and certificate holder changes stay free through the portal. When you need something faster or more involved, the fee is there so a licensed agent can prioritize your request and make sure it is done right, every time.

One rule that protects you

Even if you call, we need the details in writing before we send the certificate. It keeps the holder name, address, and requirements exact. Our service team are not licensed agents, so any coverage change or review is handled by a licensed agent. Email is always the fastest way to a correct certificate.
