What Our Clients Are Saying
Insurance for Hired or Rented Vehicles
Hired Auto Physical Damage Coverage
When you hire or rent a commercial vehicle, you're responsible for any damage that occurs. To protect your business, Great West offers Hired Auto Physical Damage Coverage, which covers the potential loss exposure associated with rented or hired vehicles.
A "hired auto" refers to a vehicle owned by someone else, rented or hired by you for a short-term, special purpose. This coverage can apply to trucks, tractors, trailers, and private passenger-type vehicles.
Optional Coverages Available:
-
Comprehensive
-
Specified Causes of Loss
-
Collision
While your fleet may already be covered under Specified Causes of Loss, it’s a good idea to consider Comprehensiveand Collision for additional protection. Your responsibility for damages to hired autos could require broader coverage.
Three Important Points to Know:
-
Single Limit of Insurance – A single limit covers all hired trucks based on their actual cash value, combined.
-
Covered Trailers – The definition of a covered trailer includes shipping containers.
-
Loss of Use – Our coverage doesn’t cover loss of use claims made by the owner of the hired truck. This is a risk that your business assumes.
When determining your coverage limit, ensure you’re purchasing enough for the worst-case scenario. Since this coverage is separate from your owned or leased equipment, you may choose a different deductible if needed.
